Alta Vista Nursery

Avoid doing business with this nursery. Unfortunately, I have to give a one star rating to Alta-Vista. I purchased four 45 gallon Teddy Bear Magnolias in December 2022. They were beautiful plants. I needed five more for the customer who decided they wanted to line the whole back fence since the four looked so good. I went back to Alta-Vista and they had a new batch in from a different grower. The plants were diseased, but JD (who is no longer with Alta Vista) told me to bring them back if they didn't live. I stupidly thought they could be brought out in the spring with some care. Four of the five died by mid-summer. Pathology lab indicated Anthracnose. And an examination of the twigs showed clear indication of the disease. I took the trees back and was told there is no warranty and JD should never have given his word on it. Bottom line is this nursery sources diseased plants, sells them at full price, makes false promises, and doesn't stand behind what they sell.

I have done business with Alta Vista for several years. I was never completely satisfied with their customer service, product or availability. But they were very close and convenient to my jobs. Recently I had a terrible experience on a project where I was promised 40 trees to be delivered for my project. When I called to inquire about delivery, Marti Sandoval did not return my calls or texts. Then, out of the blue this week, my credit card was charged for over $3,200 without my permission and without an explanation. I reversed those charges. I would NOT recommend Alta VIsta to my worst enemy.

Awful management - Awful staff - Nothing but lies. They can't provide a up to date price sheet..... They confirmed plants are ready for pick up. I confirmed with them several times. I showed up and not a single plant is ready for pickup nor any are available when they told me they are ready. Another order, As they were picking a select few living and available plants. The workers were cussing each other out about locations of the plants. I called to order more plants for another client. More lies... Said they will call the grower to place a delivery for some plants.. nothing. Never got a call back letting me know any status on my order. Don't believe me? Try for yourself.. Awful place. I recently found Oakstreet Nursery. Nothing but quality plants and people! They have my business

We purchased two Boulevard Cypress Trees last year. Within one year they were dead. I learned since these trees do not do well in our climate and no other local nursery's sale them. On my first contact with Alta Nursery, they advised they do not warranty any plants and that they no longer sale this species. I spoke with Marty Sandoval and she mentioned if I send in the invoice she would see about giving me a discount, but could not provide any details. I sent the invoice and pictures of the dead trees and have not heard from them in almost a month.

Disregard these stupid reviews... Alta Vista is a great Nursery! The prices are better than most nurseries, and they have a great selection of pottery. The property is very large, and they cater to both contractors and homeowners. They're constantly improving their product selection, and speaking from experience (as a contractor and homeowner) their products are of the highest quality. Their service is among the best in the industry. I've been purchasing from them since they opened, and I will continue to do so!
